▪️GIAHS aims to gives a wider approach to the traditional farming by synthesis of modern techniques towards conservation and adaptive management of agricultural heritage systems.
▪️It is based on the search for economic viability of the system, the identification of environmentally sustainable strategies in the face of growing climate change, and the empowerment of small holder/traditional family farming and indigenous communities
▪️Three regions of India recognised as the GIAHS:
1. Koraput Traditional Agriculture, Odisha
2. Saffron Heritage of Kashmir Valley, Pampore region
3. Kuttanad Below Sea Level Farming System
