Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules 2018

▪️Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 were amended in 2018. The rules have been extended to village Panchayats as well. Earlier, it was limited to municipal districts. 

▪️It laid special emphasis on the phasing out of Multilayered Plastic (MLP), which are ‘non-recyclable, or non-energy recoverable, or with no alternate use’. 

▪️The idea of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) was introduced in the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. It is also part of Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules 2018.
