ЁЯЯг In Headlines: Maharashtra and Karnataka CMs agreeing to jointly oppose Andhra Pradesh’s application seeking a relook at the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal’s 2010 order on water distribution.

The Krishna River is the fourth-biggest river in terms of water inflows and river basin area area, after the Ganga, Godavari and Brahmaputra.

Origin: Near Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra and flows through Maharashtra, karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

It drains into Bay of Bengal in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Tributaries :
Left bank - Bhima, Musi, Munneru, Halia, Paleru, Don River.

Right bank - Ghatprabha, Malprabha, Tungabhadra, Koyna, Warna, Panchganga, Venganga.

Important dams: Sirisailam dam, Nagarjuna Sagar dam, Prakasam barrage, Almatti dam.

Important cities: Vijayawada, Srisailam, Amaravati.
