◇ Originates as Bhagirathi from Gaumukh in uttar kashi dist. of UK.
◇ Alaknanda originates from Satopanth glacier, joins Bhagirathi at Devprayag and from here confluence known as Ganga.
◇ Before Joining Bhagirathi, Alaknanda makes five confluences known as Panch prayag.
◇ From it source after 289km it reaches Haridwar.
◇ After another 770 it reached Prayagraj where it joins Yamuna.
◇ After it, it reaches Plain of Bihar.
◇ Near Farakka it bifurcates itself into Hugli in west Bengal and Padma in Bangladesh.
◇ After passing through Kolkata and Haora it merges with Bay of Bengal.
