Nilgiri Mountain

• Stretching in the district of Nilgiri in the far west of Tamil Nadu, the Nilgiris are a structural plateau of Archaean rocks. 

• Its highest peak, Doda Betta, is 2636 m above the sea level. 

• Its slopes are covered with the tropical evergreen and monsoon deciduous forests. 

• The cattle keepers, Toddas, are the main tribals living in the Nilgiris.
