The Soo Canal

Soo Canal connects Lake Superior with Lake Huron.

The Soo Canal connects the productive interior parts of USA with the Atlantic Sea-coast.

It has helped in bringing ocean shipping to the centre of the continent of North America.

The Canal is constantly dredged to maintain a depth of about 8 m for the use of fighters, wheat-carriers, and cargo-barges.

The drop of 6 m (20 feet) by a rapid of St. Marie is avoided by the Soo Canal between Lake Superior and Lake Huron.
