Shanghai Cooperation Organisation(SCO)

● What is SCO? It is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation founded in 2001 by Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. 

● Who are the members? China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.  

● SCO has two Permanent Bodies 
○ SCO Secretariat in Beijing, and 
○ Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) in Tashkent. 

● Chairmanship: The Chairmanship of SCO is by rotation for a year by Member States. 

Why in News? The 20th Summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State was held under the chairmanship of Russia
