What is DISHA?

● The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee also known as DISHA is responsible for monitoring implementation of 43 government schemes and programmes including MNREGA and PMGSY.

● Chairperson: The Chairperson of the DISHA should be a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) elected from the district nominated by the Ministry of Rural Development. 

● Member secretary: The Member Secretary of the DISHA should be the District collector / District Magistrate/ Deputy Commissioner except in cases where specific exemption has been given by the Union Government.

● Meetings: Disha is required to meet at least once in a quarter.In a year, at least four meetings of Disha are required to be held.
